iRex brengt DR800S naar Europese markt Telecomwereld
Het in Eindhoven gevestigde iRex, een spin-off van Philips, is altijd een pionier geweest op het gebied van eReaders, maar de doorbraak in de consumentenmarkt bleef nog uit. De nieuwe DR800S zal daar, ondanks de wat hoge prijs (€499), zeker aan bijdragen. Het heeft een groter scherm (8,1 inch) dan concurrerende apparaten en ondersteunt naast pdf ook het populaire ePub-formaat (met of zonder DRM). De DR800S heeft 256 MB intern geheugen en een microSD-slot voor nog eens 2 GB geheugen. Een draaghoes en stylus zijn bijgeleverd.
Om ebooks op de DR800S te zetten moet u het apparaat via usb op een computer aansluiten. WiFi en umts ontbreken. Dit in tegenstelling tot de eind vorig jaar op de Amerikaanse markt gelanceerde DR800SG die wel over umts beschikt. De bediening van de DR800S gaat via knoppen naast het scherm. En net als bij de recent geteste Sony PRS-600 kunt u het apparaat ook via het scherm bedienen. We zijn benieuwd naar de verschillen tussen beide apparaten en hopen ook de DR800S
