I was wandering if you can read an ebook directly from your computer or do you hafto have a reading device?

Hi, I sell ebooks at ebay. Ebooks have different format. Some requires that you read it only if you are only. Others can only be read thru a separate software esp. if you want it stored in your cellphone or something. However, generally there are ebooks on .pdf format which you can read if you have adobe ( can be downloaded for free ) and even if you are not online.

Hope this helps...

Ebook devices...?

Does anyone know what ebook device is the best to use and what website do you use to download the ebooks as a monthly membership?? If you use an ebook device, do you like it?

Any Windows Mobile (PocketPC) device will accept Microsoft Reader books (Microsoft Pocket Reader is free) - there's millions of free ebooks available - and most ebook suppliers will provide paid-for books in that format. It uses Cleartype - a font-rendering technology that makes the on-screen text much easier on the eyes. I love it!

what device should i get to read ebooks, pdf, and other text files?
Nook by Barnes & Noble

hi, I have a lot of books on my computer (mostly in pdf) and I would love to be able to carry my books around for on the go reading. I was thinking about getting an ebook reader or a pda, but the main thing I want is a big screen to read a whole page. It would rock if the device im looking for also had an mp3 player, wifi, note taking, and other useful functions. Does anyone have a recommendation of what I should get? thanks for any advice!

If you can afford a Kindle from Amazon, I would highly recommend it. I like mine a lot. They'll convert your existing PDFs free of charge once you buy the Kindle and set up an account with them.

Software Will Be the E-Reader's Kingmaker PC Magazine

.But the screen is only one part of what it will take to make a successful market here. I'm convinced that, as in most cases these days, it's the software that will drive the hardware and determine the eventual winners and losers in this market.

That's where the Sony Reader and Amazon Kindle have had such a big lead over all their competitiors to date. The E-ink technology had been out for a while, but it took Sony to make the device commercial, and Amazon to wirelessly link the device with its online store; and that combination helped make this a real market. The Kindle had the initial advantage of a much bigger store, but almost every e-reader you see has access to an online store of some sort.

Clearly, the store is still important. Amazon is pushing its own, as are Barnes and Noble (with the Nook) and Sony.Nearly all the Android-based devices have access to Google Books (typically for older, public domain titles titles), but several have content partnerships with Barnes
