Can Amazon Kindle be used with regular wireless home network if traveling oversea?

I love Amazon Kindle but I will be away from USA for some time and was wondering if I would be able to connect Kindle to the network via regular home network via wireless connection.
Thanks for your help.

I have just ordered mine and it shoud arrive today (yay!), so I'm not exactly talking from experience here, but...
From what I understand, the Kindle uses Sprint's cellular telephone network to deliver its content in the States. This cannot be used when travellig overseas. However, you can plug the Kindle to your computer via USB cable and download your purchases this way. You can do this through the Manage Your Kindle link on the Amazon site. This also means that if you wish to purchase anything while overseas, you would have to do it through your computer, as the wireless feature won't work.

I hope this helps!

Can I use the Amazon Kindle for internet on my laptop?

If I have an Amazon Kindle, is there a way that I can hook it up to my laptop and get internet on my laptop? Sort of like a EVDO PC Card??? I am thinking of purchasing one but need to know first.

Thanx!

Is the Amazon Kindle worth getting in Australia?

The new Kindle 2.0 is very tempting and Amazon doesn't look set to release it overseas anytime soon.

Has anyone else attempted using Kindle (first gen/second gen) in Australia? I would like to know what are some of the problems encountered and if it's worth the trouble.

Does anyone know if the new Amazon Kindle can be used in S. Korea?

It uses EVDO technology

Kindle, DRM & the case for an ebook Marketplace SlashGear (blog)

Shortly before Christmas,  Freescale sent me an Amazon Kindle to take a look at. On the surface, I should be the perfect audience for ebooks. I’ve never really invested in all that much digital music – I don’t own an iPod or another manufacturers’ PMP and I’ve only ever bought a few tracks online (and never with DRM) – instead using Spotify , the streaming music service, initially free and subsequently as a premium subscriber (which kills the ads and gives better quality audio), but I do love reading. I’d much rather read a book when travelling than listen to music, and it’s books that distract me from tech before I go to sleep each night. I’m also pretty obsessive about keeping my books in pristine condition: I’m one of those bizarre people who don’t like to crack the spine, and as such end up peering into a carefully spread gap.

So, voracious reader and obsessive-compulsive about book damage: ebooks, with instant Kindle download and no pesky spine to worry about, should be the ideal solution, right? As you probably guessed was coming, things haven’t quite worked out that way.
